On Wednesday, March 30, 2022, ASU Law hosted a virtual public meeting with the Tempe Police Department. The meeting discussed the results of a Sentinel Event Review of the incident involving a TPD officer holding up an African-American hotel employee at gunpoint. ASU Law’s Academy for Justice and the Lodestar Dispute Resolution Center, as well as ASU’s Center for Problem-Oriented Policing recently began offering Sentinel Event Reviews for police use-of-force incidences, and the Tempe Police Department partnered to conduct the first such review. We were eager to share the results.
The public meeting, discussed the Sentinel Event Review process and the incident examined by the review panel, as well as presented the final report and its recommendations.
